When embarking on your crystal journey to bring harmony to yourself or others here are some guidelines to keep in mind. Crystals are everywhere these days and it’s wonderful to see these natural beauties doing such great things for the energy of those who choose to use them. Crystals and stones do their best work when aligned with the chakras or energy centers of the body.
Let’s take a look at the chakras, where they are located and what crystals are going to best support each energy center.
Root Chakra – Located at the base of the spine and pelvic floor. When looking to find stability and grounding use darker stones like Obsidian, Hematite and Black Tourmaline. These are also great for protecting against negative energy.
Sacral Chakra – Located in the pelvis, hips, reproductive organs and low back. Needing a little inspiration and creativity in your life? Carnelian and Orange Calcite will do the trick in getting those creative juices flowing.
Solar Plexus Chakra – Located above the belly button and just below the ribcage, known as the “city of jewels”. When you need to reconnect to the light and personal power within Tiger Eye and Citrine are sure to brighten you up.
Heart Chakra – Located at your heart center, the center of the seven. It’s all about love and connects our inner and outer worlds. If you are just starting your crystal collection I always suggest starting with Rose Quartz, the universal stone of love.
Throat Chakra – Located in your throat, neck, teeth, ears and even the tops of your shoulders. Finding your voice can be challenging sometimes, but Sodalite, the stone of communication and intellect will help you find just the right words.
Third Eye Chakra – Located between your eyebrows. We all have intuition, whether or not you’re listening to it is another story. Amethyst and Lapis Lazuli are sure to reconnect you to your inner compass and have you trusting yourself again.
Crown Chakra – Located just about the top of your head. This is our connection to something bigger than ourselves. Crystal Quartz and Moonstone are wonderful for helping you find clarity and that connection to something greater. We are all one.
Now that you have your arsenal of crystals and stones you might be wondering how to use them. Crystals are most affective when touching your skin or your body, but are also helpful to have with you or around you. You can carry them in your pocket (or bra is my favorite), wear them as jewelry or lay them on your body during meditation or savasana at the end of a yoga practice. You can also have them around your home bringing energy to your environment. They are great on your nightstand, in the kitchen or in a meditation space. When it comes down to it listen to your intuition on which crystals to use and how to use them. Your intuition will never lead you astray. Lastly – enjoy your crystal journey!
