6 Ways to Prepare for Holiday Retail Sales in Your Spa

As estheticians, it’s important to think ahead and to be prepared; especially when it comes to the holiday season. Whether you’ve just started brainstorming or truly don’t know where to begin, we’ve got you! Today we are sharing some of our best tips to prepare for holiday retail sales in your spa!

Be selective and stock up on the right products

In order to decide what to include in your inventory, you’ll want to stop and think first. What is your budget? What is popular? What were sales like last year? When should I buy these items?

We recommend starting off by setting a budget for your spa. Take some time to look back at holiday sales you made in recent years. Think about what was really popular and what you could maybe do without. You could even do a little survey for your clients to get their input on brands or products they love and how likely they are to participate in holiday sales. By doing this, you will get answers directly from your clients and you can make the best decision for your spa.

Trends can be really exciting in the skincare world, so you’ll want to be knowledgeable on what these current trends are. Of course, it is important (and very fun) to include festive products in your inventory, but remember to purchase products that people will use and love all year round. For example, you can have 25% of your inventory relate to the holidays and 75% can simply be for any time of year.

Get creative with holiday gift guides and bundles

The temperatures are dropping, so get ready to bundle up!

The holiday season is the perfect time to think about creating holiday gift guides or selling bundles. Many people will be looking for unique gifts, and you have the opportunity to give it to them! You can create bundles of your best-sellers to give clients the ultimate treat. You can even create a bundle of some low-selling products with some best-sellers to boost your sales and introduce new products to your clients. Another great tip is to bundle a product with a service. This is a fantastic way to bring in new clientele, to show off what you can do for them, and to give them a little gift too!

When creating your holiday gift guide, think about your clients’ hobbies, values, passions, skincare concerns, and interests. Once you have come up with some unique and fun ideas, take a look at your inventory and choose products that fit best into these categories. For example, let’s say some of your clients work outdoors and are in the sun most of the day. You can choose to highlight products that would benefit their skin the most.

Marketing with a personal and professional approach

When it comes to marketing, it can be difficult to know where to start. Understanding your clients is key for this step. You’ll want to take a close look at what your clients have been loving in relation to brands, specific products, as well as their concerns. You will also need to know what they dislike and why. This will ultimately help your clients gain trust with you, and you as the esthetician will be able to take a more personal and professional approach to your marketing. Get to know their wants and needs and be sure to keep track of these things, as well as trends in your area so that you and your clients can get the absolute best out of the spa experience. Remember to be friendly and relatable, but to always keep professionalism a top priority as well.

Wow your clients with festive spa displays

No matter what time of year it is, it can be really fun to decorate your spa and make it a more festive place to be; especially for the holidays! Presenting your products in an eye-catching and beautiful way will let clients and potential clients know that your spa is the place to be and that they may be able to find the perfect holiday gift inside. They may also spend some more time in your spa to admire your festive displays or to hopefully make a purchase for themselves or a loved one. New customers will be amazed, and returning customers will be appreciative. You can choose to decorate for specific holidays or you can go with a more generalized theme. Either way, your clients will be excited and business will surely flourish!

Give the gift of offers and incentives

It’s time to get into the holiday spirit, and one way that we like to do that is to be generous. To make your spa feel even more festive, why not think about giving the gift of offers or incentives?

This applies to any holiday, and you can also keep track of your clients’ birthdays or other personal celebrations in their lives. Let them know about these offers/deals through a text, email, or through your own website. Make sure to let your customers know that deals and offers are for a limited time only, and give specific dates as well. That way, they will be more likely to act fast and make a purchase while the deal is still on. Another way to promote your offers is by keeping them seasonal/festive. For example, if you are selling apple, cinnamon, or pumpkin products, let your clients know that stock is limited, and that they will want to make their purchase before the fall season comes to an end.

Giving offers and incentives on your products or services is a great way to get into the holiday spirit, and it will bring so much excitement and joy into your spa.

Expand your reach through social media and PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE

Social media plays such an important role in promoting our businesses. It may seem like an obvious thing to do, but it can also be easy to forget. The world is changing drastically, and online shopping has taken over, so it’s time to up your marketing game through social media!

Not everyone feels confident using certain platforms, and that is perfectly ok! We would recommend starting off by doing some light research. Think about your target audience and figure out which platforms they tend to gravitate toward most. Better yet, don’t be afraid to ask your clients! If you already have a group of people that come to you regularly, it can’t hurt to ask.

Once you’ve found the best channel to promote your business, get creative! There are so many apps that will allow you to create eye-catching and engaging posts. Canva is a very popular one, and it is free. You can use this to post important updates, holiday hours, exciting sales, or any information that will be useful to your clientele.

It could also be a great idea to utilize email marketing. When a client books an appointment with you, find a way to get their email address.  This can be an ahmaaazing way to establish relationships with your clients. By receiving emails from your spa, it will keep your business on your clients’ minds, and it can keep them coming back. You can use this to promote sales, events, or any holiday collections as well!
